Self Help Books:

The self help books I have included here appear in Book Prescription and Healthy Reading schemes across the UK. Most of these titles follow principles or strategies of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Some include worksheet style exercises which require you to write in the book (which is why I think it's worth buying your own copy). Book Prescription schemes, or Healthy Reading schemes, aim to increase access to self help books for common mental health problems. They have usually been reviewed and chosen because of the authors' adherence to an evidence-based approach, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Often the provision of these self help books is achieved in partnership between library services and the NHS or council in a local area.
